Strawn Independent School District (Strawn ISD) is located in NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS, west of Dallas. It is designated as a Title I school. There is only one school that serves all grades. Based on 2020-2021 enrollment records, there were 140+ students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. According to state test scores, the district has placed in the bottom 50% of all schools in Texas for overall test scores. Industries in this area include manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture, oil and gas. This area has high percentage of economically disadvantaged families.

Projects
Strawn ISD has received support from the Foundation since 2012. The objective of all programs is to raise the overall STAAR, TPRI, and six-week grade averages for the elementary campus of Strawn ISD, as well as providing an increase of fundamental subject comprehension for students in grades PK – 12th for reading, math, and science.
- Summer Reading Program: To support reading skills by offering summer program while students are on summer vacation.
- Battle of the Books
- Makerspace Program: A summer program which provides hands-on learning environment and technology access (cameras, Cricut machine, creative tools) for self-directed projects
- After School Art Program: To support an art program for interested students.
- ETS Criterion Writing Program: To support students in 4th-12th grade with writing skills. Criterion is a web-based writing program that helps students plan, write and revise essays. The tool offers instructors and students immediate feedback allowing students to practice writing skills.
- After School Tutoring Program: To incentivize students and teachers for participation in tutoring program for K-6th grades. The incentives are monetary. Matching fund set up to reward the students who show improvement.
- IXL Incentive Program: To provide support for an online subscription-based program called IXL Math and Language Arts for students in PreK-12th grades to gain fluency and confidence in these subjects through fun and interactive content, problems and questions. While this software is approved/endorsed by Texas Education Agency, it is not readily available to all school districts so districts must purchase on their own.
- Consistent Progress Incentive Program: To honor students who have regularly shown progress on the STAAR Reading and/or Math tests over the past three years.
- 7th-8th Grade Academic Achievement Incentive Program: To support an incentive program designed to motivate 7th and 8th graders to achieve mastery results in core subjects (English, math, science and social studies). This program takes a multi-pronged approach focusing on the students completion of homework and classwork, attendance, parental support, and teacher dedication.
